SEIS advance assurance, done for you.
We check you qualify, edit your pitch deck for HMRC, write the full application and handle HMRC until you’re approved. One fixed fee of £149, backed by a 100% money back guarantee.
Most angels won’t invest without it.
SEIS gives your investors some of the most generous tax relief in the world. Advance assurance shows them, in writing from HMRC, that your round should qualify.
50% income tax relief
Investors can claim back half of what they put in, on up to £200,000 a year, against their income tax.
No capital gains tax
If they hold the shares for at least three years, any gain is free of capital gains tax.
Loss relief if things go wrong
If the company fails, investors can offset what’s left of their loss against their income. It makes an early bet far less risky.
Who qualifies for SEIS.
These are the main tests HMRC applies. Our eligibility check runs through them in under a minute.
Your qualifying trade must have started less than three years before the share issue. Not trading yet is fine.
Gross assets of no more than £350,000 immediately before the share issue.
Fewer than 25 full-time equivalent employees, counting directors.
The most you can raise under SEIS, in total, across the company’s life.
You can’t have raised EIS or VCT money before your SEIS shares are issued.
UK permanent establishment, not listed, and not in an excluded trade such as property development, banking or legal services.
Rules for shares issued in the 2026/27 tax year. HMRC looks at the full facts, so treat these as the main tests, not every condition.

That’s how confident we are. If HMRC hasn’t approved your advance assurance within 60 days of us submitting it, you get 100% of your fee back.

What is SEIS?
The Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme gives investors in very early-stage UK companies 50% income tax relief on up to £200,000 invested per tax year, plus no capital gains tax on the shares if they’re held for at least three years. Your company can raise up to £250,000 in total under SEIS.
Who qualifies for SEIS?
Broadly, your company needs to be UK-based with a permanent establishment here, unquoted, carrying on a qualifying trade that started less than three years ago, with gross assets of no more than £350,000 and fewer than 25 full-time equivalent staff before the share issue. It also can’t have raised EIS or VCT money before. Some trades are excluded, such as property development, banking and money-lending, legal and accountancy services, and running hotels or care homes.
Do I need investors lined up before I apply?
HMRC won’t give advance assurance on purely speculative applications, so it helps to have at least some potential investors identified. They don’t need to have signed anything. If you’re not there yet, tell us and we’ll advise on timing.
Can I apply for SEIS and EIS advance assurance at the same time?
Yes. Lots of companies do, because they plan to use their £250,000 SEIS allowance first and then raise more under EIS. One combined application covers both, which is why our SEIS and EIS bundle costs £199 rather than £298.
How does the money back guarantee work?
If HMRC hasn’t approved your advance assurance within 60 days of us submitting your application, we refund 100% of what you paid for it. The 60 days start on the day we submit to HMRC, and the timer pauses while HMRC are waiting on further information from you. To claim, just email us within 14 days after the 60 days end. Full terms apply.
